A quiet student changed the annual assembly in ninety seconds.
Priya expected a poem. The student instead explained why new arrivals needed a guide to the school. By spring, students had written one in seven languages.
September 2019

Priya records the custodian checking a loose rail, the cafeteria team trading music, and a teacher placing sharpened pencils on every desk. The school begins long before students hear the bell.

Eighth graders left interviews for the people they will become.
