2004 → NOW
The idea stayed. The world caught up.
The original MyVTC asked an important question too early: how can someone leave more than a file cabinet of memories? In 2004, the people who could benefit most were not yet living comfortably online, and the product framed the answer around an ending.
Today, families already share life through phones, video, and everyday digital rituals. The better frame is not departure. It is presence: a grandfather’s voice on a wedding morning, a birthday tradition that continues, or the story behind an heirloom when a grandchild finally asks.
Technology is useful here only when it preserves the person instead of performing as them.
